Deebavali

This is my first blog writing about Deebavali .

Like everyone we used to get up to the sounds of 100walas , Lakshmi bomb ,atom bomb etc,But i remember getting with the hissing of coconut shells ( charatai ) which appaammai (paati) would have put for hot water . Immediately she used to give us crackers to burst after that Ammai used to call us to take a oil bath with yes with gingely oil mixed with til seeds ,jeera and rice.

After the oil bath my brother and I would fight to get my share of crackers ,but Neppa (grand father ),the way we used address , would have already seperated it .

After bursting crackers i used to wash hands and have idlis but my brother used to never wash hands ....ha ha ... At the night after all crackers are over we used to find a few more crackers above the birrow and below the cot which appaammai would have saved it for Karthi Vilakku....

Its almost three deebawali's no oil bath, no hot idli's And moreover all appaammai is no More.........
